Adam Hodges, PhD, has over two decades of experience as a multisport athlete. He began running at age 10 and competed in his first triathlon at the end of his sophomore track season in high school. Since then, he has gone on to compete in a variety of multisport events—including off-road and winter triathlons—and at distances ranging from sprint triathlons to the Ironman.
He has competed in the World Triathlon Championships, the World Duathlon Championships, and the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii. He has raced in the pro ranks, and has earned USAT All-American status as an elite amateur.
He studied kinesiology and graduated from the University of Colorado with a BA in biology, along with credentials in secondary science education. He earned his MA and PhD, both in linguistics, from the University of Colorado.
He began coaching youth swimmers in 1991, and started working with masters swimmers at the University of Colorado in 1993. He is an experienced personal trainer, and has coached middle school distance runners.
He possesses extensive background as an educator, including experience as a middle school teacher plus over five years as a university lecturer. His background as both an athlete and a scholar allows him to bring both practical experience and a honed intellect to his coaching.
